  • Category A: For employers who have been referred by a designated referral partner and are hiring unique and specialized talent.
  • Category B: For employers hiring for occupations found on the Global Talent Occupations List, which includes high-demand tech roles.

  • Job Offer: Must have a job offer from a Canadian employer who is approved under the National Innovation Stream.
  • Skills and Experience: Must possess exceptional skills and experience relevant to the job offer. This may include specialized knowledge, a proven record of achievements, or high levels of expertise in the field.
  • Educational Qualifications: While not always required, having relevant educational qualifications can strengthen your application.
  • Application Process

    1. Employer Applies for LMIA

  • The Canadian employer must apply for an LMIA through the National Innovation Stream, including a detailed description of the role, the need for National Innovation, and how the job benefits the Canadian labor market.
  • 2. Prepare Documents

  • Gather required documents such as job offer letters, proof of qualifications and experience, and any supporting documentation that demonstrates exceptional skills.
  • 3. Submit Work Permit Application

  • Apply for a work permit through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This involves submitting your application online or through a paper application.

  • Work Permit Application Fee: Approximately CAD 155.
