aimed at attracting highly skilled workers to Canada. It is designed to help
Canadian employers fill high-demand positions quickly with exceptional talent from
around the world.
Key Features

processing most applications within 2 weeks.
Work Permit: Provides a work permit for employees, with an option for
employer-specific or open work permits depending on the situation.
Pathway to Permanent Residency: Can be a pathway to permanent
residency through various immigration programs, including the Express Entry
system.

1. Eligibility Requirements
Business Type: Must be a Canadian business that can demonstrate a need
for National Innovation to fill specific roles that cannot be met locally.
Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA): Employers must apply for an LMIA
and provide evidence that they are unable to find a Canadian citizen or permanent
resident to fill the position.
Commitment to Labour Market Benefits: Employers must commit to creating
job opportunities, supporting skills development, and improving labor market
conditions.
2. Categories
Category A: For employers who have been referred by a designated
referral partner and are hiring unique and specialized talent.
Category B: For employers hiring for occupations found on the Global
Talent Occupations List, which includes high-demand tech roles.
For Applicants
Eligibility Requirements
Job Offer: Must have a job offer from a Canadian employer who is
approved under the National Innovation Stream.
Skills and Experience: Must possess exceptional skills and experience
relevant to the job offer. This may include specialized knowledge, a proven
record of achievements, or high levels of expertise in the field.
Educational Qualifications: While not always required, having
relevant educational qualifications can strengthen your application.
Application Process
1. Employer Applies for LMIA
The Canadian employer must apply for an LMIA through the National Innovation
Stream, including a detailed description of the role, the need for National Innovation,
and how the job benefits the Canadian labor market.
2. Prepare Documents
Gather required documents such as job offer letters, proof of
qualifications and experience, and any supporting documentation that demonstrates
exceptional skills.
3. Submit Work Permit Application
Apply for a work permit through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship
Canada (IRCC). This involves submitting your application online or through a paper
application.
4. Pay Fees
Work Permit Application Fee: Approximately CAD 155.
Biometrics Fee: Additional fees may apply for biometrics if required.
